Please do not panic! But it looks as though Facebook is moving the marketing analytics once cheese again.
It didn’t seem as though it were a big deal when the “Find More Pages” link suddenly appeared. The directory of pages seems as though it is a cool feature. (Personally this seems as though it is setting Facebook up to charge to appear in the immediate listing of the directory, but that’s a personal opinion or at least an idea for Facebook – in which they can send a check to our office.) But now, it has been said there is a feature in test (do not be alarmed if you do not see it now) which could essentially move the cheese once again for those who rely on marketing on the social media site.
So here is the quick scoop on what was heard that may be (as we know Facebook will squash tests if they do not find it to be beneficial) coming down the pike. With some research, we found additional information we believe to support the information received.
Here we go…. Facebook is testing a “Subscribe to Page” feature on fan pages. Please take a look at a full story of it on Inside Facebook. Basically, people can subscribe to news you post on your fan page, but not “like” your page. Somewhere people begging for likes are panicking. Please put your head between your legs and breathe in and out.
No full news from Facebook was found on how this feature will work or how we will be able to analyze the statistics. Nothing added to the Help feature or News tab on how it will all work, but it definitely leaves some questions for us. How will we know who has subscribed? Will the subscribers be cognizant enough to know when and what type of update frequency to select if they only subscribe? How will the analytics now display interaction?
