The holiday season has arrived and many of you may have plans to run specials to attempt to increase sales. While the entire retail industry will be running numerous specials, very few will manage to stand out from the rest.

Here is our number one marketing tip for the holidays this year!

Number Your Holiday Specials!

You may be wondering what this means. So here is an example to help explain the concept.

ABC Company is running weekly specials for the Christmas holiday. Instead of ABC Company simply listing a new special each week appearing random in nature, ABC Company should add a number to their advertisements to help display a well thought out concept, create a sense of urgency, to remind people there is a limited time to the specials and their business has offerings to keep in mind for Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas or New Year’s.

For example, “5 Weeks of deals to help fulfill your gift list with X from ABC Company”, “25 Days of Christmas specials to make your shopping jolly” or “10 Ways to Make Her Smile this Christmas.”

You chose the special which will help you to receive the biggest return this season. As I’ve mentioned it previously, use numbers to trigger mental notes for the memory of your customers.

4 Quick Tips to Help Improve Your 2013!

4 Quick Tips to Help Improve Your 2013!

It’s June and some of you may be thinking “now what?” Whether you have started or delayed your 2013 goals for the year, these quick tips will help you to make sure the rest of the year stays on course. In fact you can summarize them all to one main thing, Organize!

  1. Organize Your Leads. Create lists for all of your social media pages. Obtain a good CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool to keep track of your leads and messages to them. Personally we like Batchbook and Salesforce for basic small business use.
  2. Organize Your Marketing and Sales Schedule. A CRM can help you to keep in contact with your leads and customers in a timely fashion. There are programs that I’ll include in the next email (sign-up for our Above Promotions newsletter by visiting http://www.abovepromotions.com) this month to help to regularly keep your email newsletters and social media posts in front of your clients.
  3. Organize Your Time. Don’t spend the majority of your time on practices that are not helping you to grow clients or obtain more gigs. It’s easy to get caught up on tasks that keep you busy, but if they’re not revenue generating, cut them out or reduce your time in doing them.
  4. Organize Your Story. No one can follow someone who doesn’t know where they are going. Also, being a good marketer who shares their brand requires you to be able to tell the story about your company and how your company provides for the hero in their story.

Look. You can’t get around it. You need a beginning and end of game strategy for everything. So get organized today! Stay tuned to the next few emails containing other tools I’ll suggest to you.

I want to personally see you succeed. So, Organize! Organize! Organize!

What tools are you using to organize your business or brand? Comment below and you may be featured in an upcoming post.

Women Rule… At Least This Weekend

It is quite obvious that this is a major shopping weekend and mom’s are definitely showered with gifts. Simply drive by the mall, walk by a florist shop or talk to your local baker. This is a huge weekend for spending money on the one we probably loved first in the world.

Don’t believe me? The National Retail Federation (NRF) has confirmed this is the second biggest shopping weekend of the year. Spending is expected to reach $18.6 billion per their estimates. With those numbers, perhaps we need Mother’s Day once a quarter to help our economy. Nonetheless, alas it’s upon us.

And for those of you who are not taking advantage of getting extra sales this weekend, well just shame on you. What are you waiting on?

Don’t let the fact that perhaps your products aren’t mom-friendly. Another interesting statistic from the NRF’s article is:

Of the 86.5 percent celebrating Mother’s Day this year, nearly 65 percent will shop for their mom or stepmom, while others will buy gifts for their wife (22.4%), daughter (10.5%), grandmother (8.2%), sister (8.4%), friend (7.6%) or godmother (2.1%).

Now this should hopefully open your eyes to getting a piece of this financial windfall this weekend.

Email or text your customers today! Run your social media ads. You can still catch those last-minute shoppers. Offer electronic gift certificates. The NRF expects 1/4 of the gifts to be purchased online, so don’t think it’s too late to get into the game (even if you’re reading this on Mother’s Day).

Get creative. Offer shopping experiences just for women. Even if you’re a B2B (business-to-business company) you can still generate sales and interests in products and services that empower or show appreciation to women.

So what if you’re demographic is predominately male! Still consider doing a sale. Here’s why. According to BIGinsight Executive Vice President Phil Rist, “Many will use the opportunity to comparison shop and research products to save a few bucks, utilizing their mobile and tablet devices at home and in stores as they look for gifts and other ways to celebrate.”  As many people may not be chasing the sporting goods store this weekend, if that’s your industry, you can still offer great ways to save just to draw in the shopper who is just in the mood to shop this weekend.

Now does that have your mind buzzing on what you can do to get even a small share of this “mom money”?

Are you running any specials? If so, share below. You never know who may purchase from you online today!

Oh and by the way, Happy Mother’s Day to the moms and other women operating in that oh so important role. Women Rule! At least this weekend. Enjoy the day ladies! You deserve it!
